Been thinking on what aspects this game could have to differentiate it from other games, and one thought I had was to have variable training times for different players. Say each player has a "potential" rating between 0 and 15, where a 0 player trains at a snail's pace and a 15 player is an absolute prodigy. If you combined that with a wider range of starting skills for players (e.g. have some 18 year olds start with good enough skills that they could play regularly in low-level teams) then it would mean every player has their own flavour and every team would have a wide range of skill levels in their squad. Thus avoiding the problem many games have where the players in top sides are so similar that winning and losing comes down more or less to luck. A side-question would be whether a player's "potential" rating is visible or hidden. Personally I'd actually prefer it to be hidden so we have to find out how well a player develops by training him for a while and seeing how he comes along. It makes the management aspect more realistic and, in my opinion, a lot more fun that way Anyway, not sure if people will like it but thought I'd throw it out there.
